Tennessee Senators bring flame war to Twitter

April 23, 2009

State Senators Jim Kyle and Mark Norris of Tennessee didn’t leave it all out on the floor of the legislature.  Rather than have a conversation about policies that may help the economy of their state, they decided to tweet it all out in 140 characters or less.

Here it is:

mark-norris

jim-kyle

The problem is that Mark Norris is treading in dangerous water if his statement isn’t true.  If it is bullshit, then Jim Kyle or other lawmakers from Shelby county should nail him for defamation.

Imagine the 2012 presidential election for a second.  It is entirely possibly that attack tweets from one side will be replied to by the other side.  We could actually end up watching an internet flame war rather than a television flame war.   Crazy.

Links to the Twitter accounts of politicians

March 28, 2009

Claire McCaskill (D-MO) just had Ben & Jerry’s ice cream with her daughters.  If you actually cared about that kind of thing, then start a Twitter account because I hear the dilemma of tomorrow is tuna fish vs. ham sandwich.  117 members of our illustrious congress have joined Twitter  since the site blew up in 2008.  79 Republicans and 38 Democrats.

Political twits love their Twitter.

Political twits love their Twitter.

Eric Cantor (R-VA) took the whole month of February off.  Cantor did not eat, drink, or sleep during the month, nor did he attend any congressional meetings.  If they didn’t tweet it, it didn’t happen. Barack Obama did too.

So who is going to be the first idiot to get screwed over by their own Twitter account?  I’m looking at you, Eric Cantor.  Let us know if you have any more to add to the list.
